Just copies of my facebook posts since my last update. If you see my FB posts, you have seen these.
since we were staying at a distillery, We got a tour.
The bikes parked right next to the distillery.
They have examples of all the different kinds of agave that has grown in Peru.
We got to see you all the machines that they use to turn agave into alcohol.
And sampled all the varieties they make.
We visited the Chavin de Huantar archaeological site. On the way there we rode through some amazing scenery, and through probably the highest tunnel I have ever gone through at 14,664 feet.
The archaeological site, was very well preserved. And there is one point where you can walk down inside the temple to see a carved stone in a labyrinth. Unfortunately they don't allow photos in there, so I can't show a good picture of it.
Afterwards, at the hotel, I was treated to two very heavy blankets to stay warm. Oh, did I mention, almost none of the hotels in Peru have heat. And many can get to the same temperature as the outside. When I went to bed, The temperature outside was 34° and likely to get colder. It also rained quite a bit, so I'm a little concerned about the potential for heavy snow on the mountains tomorrow morning. Maybe we will leave late.
Gravel in Road. I wasn't here when we came through last night.
As expected, the ride today was cold and beautiful. Never quite got below freezing, but it did snow over one of the mountains. And it obviously snowed quite a bit last night in a couple of places.
Here are a few pics of the scenery. They don't do the scenery justice.
We get to our final destination for the day, and I try to fill up the fuel. The key won't turn in the gas cap. I am now stuck in this town until we fix it.
If it was my bike, I would just drill it out. But it's a rental. So I'm talking with them, can't do much until tomorrow anyway.
I think the final outcome will be to drill the lock.
Anyone need eggs?

I am so glad they provide a safe in this room. I would be really concerned about my valuables if this was not here.
Plenty safe for the child.... Standing on the seat is safer than sitting, isn't it? Reminds mc6of sleeping on the rear window shelf of mg parents Oldsmobile.

A wee bit of snow at over 15,000 feet.
today was a fantastic ride down through some valleys and over some mountains. For the most part the road was excellent, and paved, except for where it was not.
